Biography
Satwat Rehman is Chief Executive of One Parent Families Scotland, the national charity supporting single parent families, and served as co-chair of the second Just Transition Commission, giving her direct continuity with the Commission’s work on ensuring the costs and benefits of the transition are shared fairly. She brings over three decades of experience across the third and public sectors in tackling poverty and inequality, spanning child poverty, employment, social security and housing policy at both national and community level. Her work is grounded in bringing the voices and lived experience of those furthest from power into policy making, a skill central to the Commission’s engagement with communities and workers affected by the transition. She has a long track record in equalities work in Scotland. Through her leadership and governance roles she has extensive experience of coalition building and consensus making across government, business, unions, the third sector and communities. She is committed to a transition that improves the lives of those on the lowest incomes, including the single parent families her organisation works alongside every day.
