Chris Birt

Chris Birt is the Associate Director for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF). He leads their work across those places to speed up and support the transition to a future free from poverty, in which people and planet can flourish. His experience at JRF will allow him to bring his knowledge of how poverty is caused by our current economy and public services to the transition to a low carbon in Scotland. Prior to joining JRF, Chris worked for the Scottish Government, including heading up the First Minister’s policy unit so brings knowledge of how government operates in Scotland to the Commission as well.
